John "Jack" Carlton Ekblad, 59, of Rock Island, IL, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rock Island.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Unity Church of the Quad Cities, 5102 47th Avenue, Moline. Inurnment will be at Moline Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

Jack was born on October 11, 1952 in Davenport, IA, the son of John and Julia (Mohl) Ekblad. He worked for Farmall and later maintenance at Piester Derby. Jack enjoyed cooking, reading, cars and had a gift for remembering details about people. Jack was a member of Unity Church of the Quad Cities. He was a very grateful active member of AA for over 20 years.

Brother Jim (Kathy) Ekblad Davenport, IA
Sister Julie (Charles) Solinski Middletown, IA
Niece & Nephew Lindsey & Steve Ekblad
5 Step nieces and nephews Charles, Sharon & Michael Solinski; Beth Kampert and Laura Lonergen.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
